Keeping an eye on Earl
Hurricane Earl is a Category 4 storm and is currently being monitored by refiners as it moves towards North America’s east coast. Earl is expected to hit the US this Labor Day weekend. The storm is travelling at 13 mph and has winds of 135 mph. It is predicted that Earl will reach the Pennsylvania and New Jersey regions in the early hours of Saturday morning and Canada’s Atlantic region in the early hours of Sunday morning.
US Virgin Islands
On Monday this week, Hovensa LLC reported that it had closed its harbor along with all other ports on the US Virgin Islands while Hurricane Earl passed through. However, the company did not stop operations at its 500 000 bpd refinery as the storm passed over.
