Oxifree Global has showcased its Polymelt Service Gun (SG1) at ADIPEC, 7 - 10 November 2016. Oxifree Global is dedicated to continually innovating and providing new ways to tackle the associated costs of maintenance in the oil and gas industry.

The SG1 was developed following feedback and consultation with representatives and clients. It was clear there was a need for a compact, lightweight solution for small touch-ups of Oxifree TM198, a patented thermoplastic coating which protects metal components against corrosion and contamination. Available directly to asset owners, the handheld, portable applicator is perfect for filling in small areas of coating which have been removed for inspections.

Speaking about the SG1, Ed Hall, managing director of Oxifree Global, says: “The SG1 will make maintenance in the field easier and more cost-effective. It allows technicians to undertake inspections by removing small amounts of coating material to carry out visual inspections of the substrate, then to simply reapply material without the need for a large unit.”

The unveiling of the SG1 comes just months after the launch of Oxitape, a protective tape designed for use in combination with Oxifree TM198. Together, these products create a defensive shell that protects against corrosion, abrasion and impact damage. They can extend asset lifetime in high impact environments, as well as on equipment buried underground, from a matter of months to a number of years. The addition of the SG1 means asset owners have a raft of tools to tackle the issue of corrosion.

Ed comments: “Bringing down the cost of maintenance for asset owners is key; we are continually considering product development as part of our mission to tackle the growing cost of corrosion and will continue to research and develop our products to provide further cost saving solutions for the industry.”
