Oilfield Technology,

Tyco Gas & Flame Detection has reported that the MX 43 alarm and control system is now certified to or above SIL 1 performance level. The controller underwent functional safety assessments by third party agency INERIS. They were found to be in compliance with EN 6007-29-1: 2007 and EN 50271: 2010 health and safety standards.

The MX 43 is a highly versatile alarm and control system available in four or eight line versions and monitors up to 16 or 32 detectors. The controller has on-board fully programmable relays, data logging capability and calibration data records. During normal operation a large display screen shows specified gas, measurement range, detector address, status and includes a bar graph with alarm threshold set points.

The MX 43 has a large storage/recording capacity of more than 2 years in most configurations with its optional internal USB module. The USB allows for continuous data logging at a sampling rate of 2 sec. to 15 min., real-time recording of all events, and automatic backup of configuration settings and firmware. Configuration settings and firmware files can be loaded from the 4GB USB drive to restore or update a system.
