The oil and gas industry now has access to a website dedicated to Atlas Copco industry-specific drill tooling. The site, www.atlascopco.com/oilgasdrilling, features market-leading innovations such as Atlas Copco rotary polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) drill bits with deep leach cutters.

Atlas Copco Secoroc manufactures impact- and wear-resistant oil and gas bits in Salt Lake City, Utah. The product lines are particularly well suited to land-based oil and gas drilling applications.

Graeme McKenzie, Atlas Copco product line manager, oil and gas, said: “We saw that oil and gas drilling professionals would benefit from a separate website dedicated to oil and gas drilling tools. Atlas Copco’s support for the industry goes beyond our reputation as an air compressor and rig manufacturer. We are proud of the success of those products, but we’re also a world-leader in drill bits.”

McKenzie said the new website will help keep its visitors abreast of current innovations from the Salt Lake facility that optimise operators’ drilling efficiency and lower their costs through performance and longevity.

“Our fully equipped manufacturing facility, experienced engineering design team, and experienced management and technicians are using our proprietary systems and processes to build the industry’s highest quality PDC bits, and other drilling products,” McKenzie said. “They are continually improving product design to meet the challenges our oil and gas customers face.”

Some of the bits manufactured in Salt Lake City for oil and gas drilling include a variety of steel and matrix PDC, PDC with MegaDiamond deep leach cutters, Klaw bits for rotary soft rock drilling, PDC reamers and PlugMaster drill-out bits.

Atlas Copco sales and engineering personnel also work with operators to design custom bits for the customer’s specific drilling application. New designs and products can be completed in a matter of weeks.
