NOV launches new reamer

Following the proven success of the Falcon™ reamer in the MENA market, ReedHycalog has launched a new, second-generation wellbore conditioning tool, the Boomerang™ reamer. Specifically designed for optimal performance in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the reamer improves drilling and tripping performance, cuts costs, and reduces reactive torque.

Designed based on the success of NOV’s dog leg reamer and the Falcon reamer, the Boomerang is built from a single piece of steel and offers true cost-per-foot reductions by yielding notable time savings when tripping in and out of hole, reduced wiper trips, improved casing speed and enhanced drilling efficiency.

The company's exclusive, in-house-developed software, Multifunctional Advanced Placement Software (MAPS™), enables the Boomerang reamer placement in the bottomhole assembly, where it is most beneficial from a borehole conditioning perspective.

The Boomerang Reamer can be fitted with any of ReedHycalog’s grades of polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) cutters to ensure top performance for each specific application.

“The Boomerang reamer has been revamped to meet the specific requirements of APAC applications and we’re confident that it will be equally successful in the APAC region as the Falcon reamer has proven to be in MENA, solidifying NOV’s reputation as a global leader in drilling technologies,” said Russ Lockley, BHE Product Line Director.
