Aker Geo was formerly part of the international oil service group Aker Solutions ASA. In 2014, Aker Solutions ASA split into two separate companies listed at the Oslo Stock Exchange: Aker Solutions ASA and new oil services investment company Akastor ASA. As a result of the transfer to Akastor, Aker Geo has now been renamed First Geo.

First Geo is one of the largest sub-surface consultancy businesses in Norway. The company employs 85 people, including geologists, geophysicists and reservoir engineers. Its head office is located in Stavanger, Norway, with further Norwegian offices in Oslo and Bergen. The company also has an office in Perth, Western Australia.

“Our sizeable team enables us to run projects in-house in parallel with placements of consultants at customers’ premises. This allows us to continuously build a broad knowledge base and give our customers maximum flexibility when they require specialist competence or additional manpower in projects,” says Bengt Larssen, CEO of First Geo.

First Geo delivers services and products through the entire subsurface value chain. The company provides geological and geophysical interpretation, petrophysics, reservoir modelling and simulation, petroleum engineering and wellsite geology services. It also conducts regional hydrocarbon prospectivity studies and offers a complete earth velocity model – hiQbe™ – for seismic depth conversion without disruptions.
