STRYDE, the world’s leading provider of onshore nodal seismic solutions, has been selected by TAY Oil Services and Polaris (TAY Oil – Polaris) to supply its cutting-edge technology for an onshore oil and gas exploration survey in Concession 57 in Libya, commissioned by the state-owned oil company, AGOCO (The Arabian Gulf Oil Company).

With Libya’s recent onshore sector reopening to exploration and development, acquiring high-quality seismic data with shortest possible turn-over is a critical first step in unlocking the country’s vast resource potential to meet the Libyan government targets.

In a frontier market like Libya, this survey will play a pivotal role in guiding exploration strategy, supporting economic growth, and laying the foundation for long-term energy security.

Early summer 2025 marked the debut deployment of the TAY Oil-Polaris newly acquired semi-automated, containerised seismic system, featuring 40 000 STRYDE seismic nodes, to enable a high-density 3D onshore survey over a 1480 km² area for ACOGO.

Abdellatif Hakkoumi, Polaris Regional Manager, commented:

“To meet the rising demand for high-resolution seismic imaging across expansive areas of Libya, we required an innovative nodal system capable of supporting a high channel count, without the logistical and financial constraints of conventional systems.

"With the quick delivery of STRYDE’s fully autonomous nodes and semi-automated containerised seismic system, we have rapidly transitioned into a new era of land seismic acquisition.

"This advanced technology enables us to dramatically increase trace density per square kilometre. As a result, our customers benefit from improved subsurface imaging, reduced geological uncertainty, optimised well placement, and lower drilling risks, ultimately increasing exploration success rates.”

STRYDE’s Containerised Seismic System, housed within a 20 ft shipping container, seamlessly integrates all essential hardware for semi-automated node charging, harvesting, and on the fly generation of seismic data deliverables.

Customised to meet TAY Oil-Polaris specific project requirements and high-channel count efficiency, the containerised system allows a single operator to rotate 13 000 nodes within 24 hours – dramatically reducing crew size, HSE risk exposure, and operational costs.

Thanks to the unique ability to fully bury STRYDE nodes, TAY Oil-Polaris can benefit from zero surface obstructions, enabling stealth surface acquisition mode. This fully eliminates surface interference, ensures the best possible coupling for optimal data quality, and minimises surface noise contamination. As a result, survey operations can be conducted flawlessly without disrupting production activities or the surrounding environment.

By streamlining seismic operations, STRYDE is making large-scale, high-density seismic surveys more efficient and cost-effective.

Mehdi Tascher, Sales Director at STRYDE, commented:

“This purchase marks a significant milestone in the advancement of seismic exploration in Libya. With our state-of-the-art seismic system, TAY Oil-Polaris is set to carry out the largest nodal seismic acquisition project ever conducted in North Africa and will be able to meet fully Libyan onshore seismic growing demand.

“We are proud to supply TAY Oil-Polaris with the industry’s only fully integrated and semi-automated seismic system, enabling unprecedented operational efficiency while delivering high-resolution seismic data to their Libyan customers.”

“Libya’s complex geology, defined by thick carbonate sequences and rugged terrain, poses significant challenges for accurate subsurface imaging. To overcome these obstacles, high-density sensor deployment is essential for delivering superior structural and stratigraphic resolution. By harnessing STRYDE’s advanced nodal system, TAY Oil-Polaris is uniquely equipped to navigate these complexities.”

This latest contract strengthens STRYDE’s position as the market leader in onshore nodal seismic solutions and underscores its commitment to revolutionising seismic exploration.

STRYDE continues to push the boundaries of innovation in nodal technology, setting new industry standards for excellence in seismic data acquisition.
