Inverurie-based JB Well Solutions Ltd (UK) has launched in impressive style, announcing contract awards worth in-excess of £100 000 during its first trading quarter.

The joint venture between local businessmen Robbie Gray and Robbie Garden with Norwegian JB Well Solutions AS, predominately supports well service activity in hazardous Zone 2 classification areas of the UK Continental Shelf.

Due to the potential for explosive gasses in these areas, controls over ignition sources are required – especially in circumstances where diesel engines are operating. JB Well Solutions Ltd has been set up to provide the UK with a complete Zone 2-compliant service; offering servicing, component fitting and retro-fitting of a wide range of diesel-driven machinery, and all certification to DNV GL standards.

Managing Director, Robbie Garden explains the impact this service has: “The Norwegian oil and gas industry has a reputation for adhering to the highest of health and safety standards. Our objective is to ensure that the UK North Sea industry is also 100% compliant when operating in potentially explosive environments.

“The removal of sources of ignition found in diesel engines and mobile equipment in offshore oil and gas installations is critical to ensuring a safer industry. Our comprehensive, “one stop shop” service ensures that we are able to offer the pioneering technology and associated maintenance required to achieved this, in an efficient, cost-effective manner.”

JB Well Solutions UK’s Chairman, Robbie Gray, adds: “Whilst we are delighted to have made such an impressive start, it comes as no real surprise to us that several local oilfield equipment rental companies have already appointed us as the provider of their Zone 2 compliance equipment and service regime.

“JB Well Solutions AS has been a regular supplier to the UK market in the past. However, the requirement is there for a locally-based service, which provides the optimal solution of Zone 2-classified equipment, certification and maintenance, without the costs associated with overseas shipping.

“An impressive global track record with all major well service companies, together with an ongoing commitment to product research and development allows us to offer our clients a lower life cycle cost, increased safety and extended operational up-time.”
