MOL Group announces the appointment of Haakon Haaland as Managing Director of MOL Norge, who took on his new position as of 1 September 2017.

Haakon Haaland gained vast experience working at companies like ConocoPhillips and E.ON having been based in Houston, London and Stavanger. Before joining MOL Norge, he was Managing Director of E.ON Norge in Stavanger from 2008 up to its take-over by DEA in 2015. In this period he was overseeing the same process that MOL Norge is currently undergoing: becoming an active and successful operator in the exploration phase. Preparations have already started for the first MOL-operated drillings next year.

In his new position as Managing Director of MOL Norge, Haakon Haaland will be responsible for leading the company through this change. In addition to his new role, Haakon will also continue his current position as Head of Group E&P Business Development.

MOL entered Norway in 2015 through the acquisition of Ithaca Petroleum Norge and is present in three strategic core areas in the North Sea (Central Graben South, South Viking Graben, and Northern North Sea). Norway plays an important role in MOL Group’s international upstream portfolio with a significant exploration upside consisting of 20 licences, out of which 8 are operated. In 2016, MOL Norge further matured its exploration portfolio and successfully participated in the APA licensing round acquiring four licences, and adding exciting prospects in the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
