Global motor and automation manufacturer, WEG, will exhibit at SPE Offshore Europe, September 2 - 5, 2025, at stand 3E64.

As one of the most influential events in the offshore energy calendar, the show will provide a platform for WEG to showcase its portfolio of ultra-high-efficiency motors, alongside digital solutions and renewable energy technologies. WEG’s presence underscores its continued investment in the offshore sector, combining energy efficiency with innovation.

Among the products on show is the new W23 Sync+ motor — a permanent magnet synchronous reluctance (PM SynRM) range offering top-tier energy efficiency. With a unique rotor design and reduced thermal losses, the W23 Sync+ reaches IE5 efficiency, while the W23 Sync+ ULTRA goes further, achieving IE6. These motors are designed for users seeking the very best in energy performance, helping operators cut energy consumption and support decarbonisation goals.

Joining the W23 range are the W22 IE4 and W22Xe motor series. The W22 IE4 motors boost industrial efficiency, cutting operating costs and meeting stricter regulations. For certified explosion-proof needs, the W22Xe offers robust performance in hazardous areas. Also on display is the W80 AxGen motor, a compact axial-flux motor with high torque density and a reduced footprint that’s ideal for space-constrained offshore environments.

WEG will present a range of technologies for the offshore and energy transition sectors. These include WG20 and WG50 gear units, durable Cemp and Marathon motors — part of the WEG Group — and high-performance CFW drives. Live demonstrations of the CFW500 and CFW900 drives will highlight their suitability for pumps, compressors and fans — offering precise control to boost efficiency and extend equipment lifespan.

Complementing its motor and drive systems, WEG will showcase its specialised coatings portfolio, including industrial paints and varnishes designed specifically for marine vessels and the oil industry. These coatings offer superior protection in harsh offshore environments, extending equipment life and reducing maintenance downtime.

WEG’s stand will also feature its growing offering in renewable and sustainable energy. This will include battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar inverters and solutions for wind power applications.

WEG is also committed to supporting the global energy transition, including the development and adoption of hydrogen solutions. The company’s W51Xdb motor, for example, is engineered for explosive environments such as hydrogen production and distribution. Flameproof and highly efficient, the W51Xdb helps industrial users embrace hydrogen as a safe, viable alternative in the drive towards net-zero emissions.

“Our goal is to support the offshore industry with the tools it needs to operate more efficiently, safely and sustainably,” said Gustavo Da Silva, Managing Director for WEG UK. “Our solutions — from hydrogen-ready motors to anti-corrosive marine coatings — reflect WEG’s broader commitment to enabling the energy transition across offshore and industrial sectors.” The motor is manufactured in Portugal and is available for quick delivery, making it a convenient choice.

The company will also feature its Motion Fleet Management (MFM) platform — a smart, cloud-based system that enables real-time monitoring of motors, drives and gearboxes across industrial fleets. By using MFM, operators can track equipment condition, schedule maintenance and prevent costly unplanned downtime, increasing asset reliability and reducing total cost of ownership.

“Whether it’s IE6-rated motors for unmatched energy efficiency, explosion-proof technology for safety-critical environments, or intelligent monitoring systems for fleet optimisation — we’re helping operators embrace innovation and meet today’s toughest performance challenges,” added Da Silva.
