Decom Mission, the independent trade body for global decommissioning, and its industry partner, FINDES (Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo), has launched a digital Challenge Portal designed to put Brazilian businesses in direct contact with specialist decommissioning capability honed in the North Sea.
Espírito Santo is Brazil's second-largest oil-producing state, with 26 decommissioning projects currently approved by the national regulator, ANP, representing close to R$5 billion in planned investment. The Challenge Portal gives FINDES members a practical, structured route to tap into the expertise held across Decom Mission's membership, as the Brazilian offshore industry approaches a new set of technical, operational and supply-chain challenges.
The Portal, which was officially launched in Rio de Janeiro at ROG.e last month, is the latest milestone in a partnership that has gathered pace over the past year. A Memorandum of Understanding and the inaugural UK-Brazil Offshore Decommissioning Business Forum in late 2025 were followed in Q1 2026 by a Decom Mission-led delegation of members to decom-es, the International Decommissioning Forum in Espírito Santo, where UK supply-chain companies met senior figures from Brazilian operators, ports, vessel owners and investors.
Callum Falconer, Operations Director at Decom Mission, said: "For growth-focused, UK-based decom specialists – particularly those who wish to expand beyond established markets – Brazil stands out as an opportunity that cannot, and should not, be ignored.
"Espírito Santo has the scale, infrastructure and ambition to become a genuine decommissioning hub. What Brazilian companies tell us they need is access to proven experience, and our members have spent decades solving these exact problems in the North Sea. The Challenge Portal turns that relationship into something practical and ongoing – a live channel where a specific decom challenge in Brazil can be matched with the right capability in the UK, quickly and in confidence."
For Paulo Baraona, President of FINDES, Espírito Santo is at a pivotal moment in its offshore history, and the decommissioning sector represents one of the most significant industrial opportunities the state has seen in decades.
"With 26 approved projects and nearly R$5 billion in planned investment, we have both the responsibility and the ambition to ensure that Brazilian companies are equipped to lead this transition - not just as recipients of foreign expertise, but as active partners in building world-class capability. The Challenge Portal with Decom Mission is exactly the kind of practical, outcome-driven collaboration that FINDES exists to enable, by connecting our members with proven North Sea experience so that Espírito Santo can establish itself as the decommissioning hub Brazil needs."
