Processkontroll aid LNG terminal construction

Oilfield Technology,

The First liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Nynäshamn, Sweden, was constructed with the help of Processkontroll AB, an offshoot of VINCI Energies.Processkontroll are also in charge of the instillation of electrical and instrumental equiptment for the new LNG unit in Lysekil, Sweden.

Oil Company Preem and Skangass were contracted by Cryo AB to erect the new LNG terminal at Preem’s refinery in Lysekil where they asked Processkontroll to oversee electrical and instrumental instillation operations.

The venture represents €800 million and is expected to create over 100 job opportunities in the course of construction, which is due for completion in February 2014.

Benefits of LNG

By transferring to LNG, Preem are expected to reduce production bills by over €228.

A statement from VINCI Energies said that: "LNG is a very interesting product for Preem in several aspects. It is not only financially favourable, but by replacing naphtha and butane with LNG for hydrogen gas production the refinery’s carbon dioxide emission will be reduced by approx. 130 000 tons per year. However, it is also an interesting product for the customers as LNG can replace heavy oil at the industrial customers and thereby reduce their environmental affect. Other exciting uses are as fuel for ships and in the long run also as fuel for modern lorries and long-distance lorries."

Skagnass

Skagnass will deliver 200 000 tpy of LNG to the Swedish refinery.
