Aker BP obtains exploration drilling consent

Aker BP has been given consent to drill exploration wells in block 25/2 in the North Sea, according to Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.

The wells are set to be drilled are in block 25/2 in production licence 442, and comprise appraisal well 25/2-19 S (Delta) with a sidetrack to exploration well 25/19-A (Nordfjellet) with a potential well test.

The geographical co-ordinates of the drill site will be:

  • 59° 52' 27.63'' N
  • 02° 37' 46.45" E

Water depth at the site is 120 m, and drilling is scheduled to begin in August 2017.

The wells are to be drilled by the jack-up drilling facility, Maersk Interceptor, which was delivered by the Keppel Shipyard of Singapore in 2014.
