Artificial Lift deploys rigless ESP system for Total

Oilfield Technology,

Artificial Lift Company (ALC) has successfully deployed its Advantage™ Rigless Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) System for Total E&P Congo in the Republic of Congo.

The rigless system was successfully installed, conveyed and retrieved on a System Integration Test water well in the Djeno field. Total will now include the Advantage system in future wells offshore. All of Total E&P Congo’s production comes from offshore and the majority requires secondary lift.

Offshore systems

A downside of using an ESP is the need for frequent intervention and the limitation of having workover vessels available offshore. The Advantage slickline-conveyed, rigless ESP system reduces intervention time, intervention cost and production downtime because of the lack of rig availability and mobilization.

As a result, the system reduces OPEX, increases well up-time, reduces production deferment, and can be a step-change in the way new fields are developed.

The Advantage system consists of a 134HP ALC Permanent Magnet Motor along with ALC’s wet connect system. Unique to this solution, Total utilized its standard variable speed drive and 338 series ESP pumps.

Comments

ALC CEO, David Malone, commented: ”Artificial Lift Company recognizes Total’s dedication to new oil and gas recovery solutions in the Congo. This deployment validates Total’s commitment to the technology and, as a result, Total will modify its production operations to include the Advantage system in future wells.

“Time and again our Advantage™ Rigless ESP System has proven to be an effective solution to increase production for the global oil and gas industry.”
