Honeywell to supply data consolidation framework for Australia Pacific LNG’s project

Oilfield Technology,

Australia Pacific LNG has selected technology developed by Honeywell Process Solutions’ (HPS) Advanced Solutions business to deliver a data consolidation and reporting technology framework. The solution, built on Intuition Executive, will support the production, operations and assest management functions of its coal seam gas (CSG) to LNG project.

Honeywell’s Intuition Executive software combines information and graphics to help users make better decisions, as well as drive intelligent operations by managing, monitoring and optimising production and operations. HPS’ CSG operations monitoring solution is a configurable data consolidation, analysis and reporting environment built on Intuition Executive. It easily scales and is flexible to meet the demands typical of the rapid expansion of field and facility infrastructure in emerging CSG operations.

Scalability, efficiency, safety and reliability

Ian Brown, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell Process Solutions’ Advanced Solutions business, said: “The coal seam gas industry [also known as coal bed methane or CBM in other parts of the world] in Australia is facing huge growth in a highly competitive environment.” He continued: “The challenge CSG operators face is to safely, reliably and efficiently increase production while balancing manned and unmanned local production with remote, centralised management of operations. Our integrated solution will assist Australia Pacific LNG by ensuring the right information gets to the right people at the right time to support decisions that will achieve the project’s business priorities of scalability, efficiency, safety and reliability, while transforming its business.”

Improved communication and data management

Australia Pacific LNG’s operational framework will support improved communication and data management, cross functional workflows and improved notification of key operational events to better analyse, prioritise, automate and manage operational tasks and abnormal situations. This will include well surveillance, defects management, support for operator and maintenance work procedures, and supply chain related initiatives as Australia Pacific LNG expands to deliver LNG to market.

Australia Pacific LNG is a joint venture project between Origin, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec that includes development of existing CSG fields in the Surat and Bowen basins and construction of a gas transmission pipeline from the gas fields to an LNG facility being developed on Curtis Island in Gladstone. The project will supplement domestic gas production and deliver cleaner energy to a world market.
