DOF Subsea Norway AS awarded call-off for Statoil in 2015
DOF Subsea Norway AS has been awarded a call-off on an existing Survey Frame Agreement with Statoil Petroleum AS for 2015 in a contract estimated at more than NOK 200 million.
The call-off has a firm period of eight months and includes seabed mapping, pipeline inspection, lay support and light construction services. Project execution will be handled by DOF Subsea’s operating centre in Bergen, Norway.
The specialised RSV Geosund will carry out the operations which are primarily located in Norwegian areas of the North Sea.
Engineering Team GB: Aquaterra Energy calls for industry collaboration on graduate recruitment and retention
Patrick Phelan, Managing Director of Aquaterra Energy, has called for employers to reach out to schools to inform teachers, career advisors, parents and students about the great career opportunities available in engineering, and the oil and gas industry in particular.
Talking at the East of England Energy Group’s (EEEGR) Southern North Sea Conference 2014, Phelan said: “The UK has the worst record in Europe for girls qualifying in engineering degrees, with only 10% of degrees in engineering and technical subjects are awarded to females. So there’s a massive opportunity for the industry to showcase the diverse and exciting opportunities it has to offer to the many very capable female students who are currently choosing other career paths.”
Phelan continued: “In order to close the gap, we also need to be innovative and creative in our approach to graduate recruitment. For example, employers shouldn’t put engineers in non-technical roles; they should consider non-engineers for commercial roles and mathematicians for analytical roles; and they need to offer roles to non EU students within four months of their graduation, before they have to leave the country.
“It is also important for SMEs to focus attention on retention of their graduates. This partly comes down to implementing a robust recruitment strategy which considers, at its core, the best match between the graduate and the employers’ opportunities and needs, and doesn’t look just for best qualifications on a CV.
Phelan concluded with a call for industry to “promote the fact that engineering is cool” and to call on young people to “join Engineering Team GB!”.
TGS signs contract with WGP Survey Ltd for 3D survey in Northwest Europe
TGS announces that it has signed a contract with WGP Survey Ltd to partner on a 3D multi-client project in the Barents Sea during the 2014 summer season. The project is expected to cover an area of approximately 500 km2 and will utilise WGP Survey Ltd's high-res 3D P-Cable™ technology. The details of the project to be completed under this charter will be announced separately.
EnQuest pioneers new approach to incident management in the North Sea
A new, fully-integrated incident investigation, reporting and management tool being implemented by EnQuest is believed to be an industry first for the North Sea.
The innovation integrates two well-established market-leading systems for the first time, which together enable seamless incident investigation, reporting and management from start to finish, unlike many standalone, off-the-shelf solutions.
EnQuest, the largest UK independent producer in the UK North Sea, was the driving force behind the development of the tool, which involved embedding Kelvin TOP-SET’s specialist investigation software with DNV GL’s Synergi™ Life tool, which is dedicated to capturing, categorising and recording incidents.
Paul Stanfield from DNV GL Software said: “EnQuest is a long-standing and valued customer for our Synergi Life solution, and we are delighted that this integration with Kelvin TOP-SET is adding real value to their system. I am sure that many other organisations in the oil and gas sector anywhere in the world will be interested in this best-practice collaboration.”
