After being warm stacked in Esbjerg Harbour, Denmark, Maersk Drilling’s high efficiency jack-up, Maersk Resolve, is set to be used for a one well contract offshore UK for Wintershall Noordzee B.V. Expected to commence in late June, the deal will have a duration of approximately 86 days, with further options included.

The work scope of this operation covers the drilling and potential testing of the Winchelsea II well, which will also allow Maersk Resolve to strengthen its presence in the North Sea.

“Maersk Resolve will be the fourth rig that Maersk Drilling brings back into operation following a period of warm stacking, and it is gratifying to see that we are able to safely and efficiently execute the start-up phases, in close dialogue with our customers. Going forward, Maersk Drilling will pursue a much closer collaboration with our customers to remove inefficiencies and create joint value, offering agile services in times of change,” Michael Reimer Mortensen, VP and head of global sales in Maersk Drilling, commented.

“As an organisation, we are dedicated to working with our customers to bring down the overall well costs, as that is the only way we can increase activity in the present market environment. We are pleased to see that Wintershall Noordzee is forthcoming and aligned with this approach,” Mortensen added.
