Weatherford opens new integrated laboratory in Colombia

Javier Betancourt, the president of Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos – Colombia (ANH) marked the official opening of the new Weatherford lab in Bogota, Colombia in a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday 4 June.

Specialist analysis

This new facility provides traditional core and fluid analysis combined with specialty services such as shale rock properties (SRP), geochemistry, wellsite geosciences, frac fluids, drilling fluids, and elastomer testing for progressive cavity pumps. The Weatherford laboratory is 1400 m2 and can accommodate 40 to 50 staff members.

The lab also hosted more than 30 operators for an open house that included a full tour of the facility and technical presentations from international and local Weatherford subject matter experts. This is the first dedicated integrated laboratory in Colombia for Weatherford and brings a multidisciplinary service approach to the entire life cycle of the region’s hydrocarbon assets.

Latin American footprint

Weatherford currently operates eight laboratories in six countries in Latin America and more than 40 globally. The global network spans more than 100 countries and includes 1000 service locations and 25 research, development, and training facilities.
