FES supplies DBSCs to GE Wellstream for Enquest’s Kraken oilfield

Oilfield Technology,

FES International, a recognised leader in fluid transfer solutions, has won a contract to supply 12 diverless bend stiffener connectors (DBSCs) to contractor GE Wellstream.

Decade-long relationship

FES International has supplied DBSCs to GE Wellstream for more than a decade. The product is one of the firm’s most successful product lines enabling the quick, efficient and safe installation of bend stiffeners on offshore deepsea drilling operations.

The DBSC units are to be used by oil and gas development and production company Enquest on the Kraken oilfield, located on the UK Continental Shelf. They will enable the installation of subsea bend stiffeners without diver or ROV intervention, saving a substantial amount of time and cost.

Work is currently under way on the contract which is expected to complete by the end of January 2015.

UK assembly and testing

All assembly and testing of the product will be performed by FES International’s UK-based team in Ashington, Northumberland.

Ian Latimer, Technical Director at FES international, said: “We’re proud of the confidence GE Wellstream has placed in us time and time again. We’ve provided them with technical and innovative fluid transfer solutions for projects all over the world such as Frade, Van Gogh, Athena and Alma and Galia. To be given yet another opportunity to supply our product is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.”
